Visit National Park Skadar Lake

Overview

Bar is the only town on the Adriatic that has two shores, a sea and a lake shore, which belong to a National park. Lake Skadar National Park is a treasure trove of history and untouched nature. We are taking you to discover why many people call Lake Skadar El Dorado for birds, why it is a natural habitat for rare birds such as the gorgeous pelican. You will try and conclude, why the red wine from region Crmnica is at the top of Montenegrin wines.

The group meeting is at the beginning of the promenade at the agreed time from where we go to Virpazar. A small town on the shores of Lake Skadar in the past was an important trading and cultural center of great historical importance for Montenegro.

Skadar lake

From Virpazar, we begin our cruise on Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula. The encounter with Skadar Lake is a unique touch with nature, and the diverse flora and fauna will leave you speechless. It was declared a National park in 1983.

The rich and protected eco system is a paradise for over 270 species of birds and 50 species of fish. In 1996, by Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, it was included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance and has been assigned for UNESCO World Heritage status. The symbol of the National park is the Curly pelican, the largest of all the pelicans.
