Kotor marks the grand conclusion of its Traditional Winter Carnival

by | Feb 26, 2026 | Info

Discover how the carnival celebrations came to life in Kotor, a town proudly inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage List of UNESCO. For more than 500 years, Kotor has lovingly preserved its vibrant and time-honored tradition of festive celebrations.

The Carnival in Kotor has once again confirmed that tradition, satire, and a strong sense of community remain its true hallmarks.

With a grand carnival procession along the city’s main thoroughfare, followed by the symbolic trial and burning of the carnival effigy, Miron Tribulus—known as Pirun—the Traditional Winter Carnival Festivities of Kotor came to a close.
