Join a one-of-a-kind cruise through the breathtaking Katič Nature Park, a protected marine area known for its rich biodiversity, pristine nature, and tranquillity far from crowded places. During your boat ride, you will enjoy the stunning coastline, featuring cliffs, secluded coves, and beautiful beaches. Highlights include the town beach, characterised by red pebbles, and the Lučice cove, surrounded by pine forests and turquoise waters. There are also small coves that can only be accessed by boat.
As you sail through Katič Nature Park, your guide will enlighten you about the significance of this protected area. Here, Posidonia oceanica, a Mediterranean endemic plant known as the “lungs of the Mediterranean,” thrives, playing a crucial role in maintaining the marine ecosystem. The park is also home to the rare fish species Coris julis, which symbolises Katič Nature Park. Interestingly, this fish naturally transitions from female to male—a unique biological feature of this species.
One Kilometre from the Coast of Petrovac: The Hidden Islands of Sveta Nedelja and Katič
Just a kilometre off the coast of Petrovac are two hidden islands nestled in the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea: the enchanting islands of Sveta Nedelja and Katič, after which the nature park is named.
Katič is primarily reserved for various bird species and the individual who maintains the lighthouse, while visits to the island of Sveta Nedelja are permitted. According to local legends, this island served as a refuge for sailors who survived shipwrecks. Their gratitude led to the construction of a small church, which stands as a symbol of protection and hope.
Climbing the stairs to the church rewards visitors with a unique view of nearly the entire Katič Nature Park—a perfect spot for moments of peace and admiration of the breathtaking natural beauty.
The cliffs and rocks surrounding Petrovac are stunning. Among these natural wonders is the Cave of Wishes, located between the Public Beach and Lučice Bay. This unique natural formation, visible only from the sea, resembles the symbol of infinity when viewed from afar. According to local legend, if you make a wish inside the cave, the sea might grant it. It is a place that attracts couples in love, photographers, and anyone who believes in the magic of nature.
Cave of Wishes
While exploring Katič Nature Park, make sure to set aside some time to relax on the beach or take a stroll along the coastal trail. This trail winds through a forest of Aleppo pine, lush spurge vegetation, and other characteristic Mediterranean plants. - Group meeting at the agreed location (in front of AVE Tours travel agency – Maršala Tita Street D5 – or in front of Hotel Princess), then departure to Katič Nature Park
- Arrival in the town of Petrovac and walk along the promenade
- Boat cruise through the waters of Katič Nature Park (approx. 1 hour)
- Optional landing on the island of Sveta Nedelja for a photo break
- Continue by boat to Luštica Beach, with a photo stop in front of the Cave of Wishes
- Free time in Petrovac – we suggest relaxing on the beach or a walking tour through Katič Nature
- Park’s pine forest (Aleppo pine) with panoramic views of the islands
- Return to Bar
